An HR Apprenticeship is an excellent way to gain an industry recognised qualification at the same time as gaining work experience. Apprenticeships are paid jobs combining practical, on-the-job training with off-the-job learning. Apprenticeships offer structured routes into skilled work for young people but can also allow experienced workers to re-skill or diversify to meet career goals. As an apprentice you’ll:
- work in a live environment alongside experienced staff
- gain job-specific skills
- earn (or continue to earn) a wage
- get time for study related to your role (minimum time 20% off-the-job, or around one day a week).
HR apprenticeships are available at two levels, allowing you to choose the one that’s right for you:
- Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship
- Level 5 HR Consultant /Partner Apprenticeship

Which level is right for me?
The Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship is designed to develop a wide range of relevant, practical skills for those who are working in or wanting to gain more experience and a qualification in HR support. This is ideal for those working in, or looking to move into an HR Administrator, HR Adviser or HR Officer role. It is also valuable for line managers, supervisors and team leaders who would like a recognised qualification to support and enhance their HR/people management responsibilities.
The Level 5 HR Consultant /Partner Apprenticeship is ideal for those working in, or looking to move into an HR Consultant or Business Partner role. The Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management is embedded and forms the basis of the academic learning and will help to develop the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of HR models and practices, and increase the understanding of organisations, while developing planning, analytical and problem-solving skills. It also offers the opportunity to build on expertise in chosen HR subjects. The course is particularly suitable for HR professionals looking to develop their careers, or line managers who would like a recognised qualification to support and enhance their HR/people management responsibilities.
