Glow in the Park
Members of the RBHR team, along with family and friends, donned their neon tutus and leg warmers on Saturday 10th September to take part in the Glow in the park charity event at Longleat safari park.
The event was organised by Glow in the park to raise money for two worthy causes
The 5km course around the grounds of Longleat house was run at night and required the team to pass through several “zones” including the Retro, Fluorescent and Time tunnel, each zone causing various members of the nine-strong team to be delayed as they enjoyed the flashing disco lights and music.
As the team progressed through the course they received a good splattering of glow in the dark paint from event officials in the Glow zone and were slightly delayed as they engaged in a foam fight as they passed through the Foam zone.
Just as the team felt they were reaching the finish, they were confronted by the lion’s den, however, we are pleased to report that despite several members of the team hearing the mighty lion roar, all made it safely through the dark den and continued on unscathed.
The team then passed through the hot and cold zone where they were blasted with, you guessed it, hot and cold air before sprinting to the finish in a respectable 2 hours (which we felt was not bad considering the temptations to stop and enjoy the novelty zones along the way!).
Special mention should be given to the family members amongst the team including Paul, who did all the whole teams make up for the event, and to Lauren and Sam, who ran the course while the rest of us power-walked and jogged and then cheered us on from the finish line.
The team is delighted to have raised over £200 for the worthwhile causes which the event supported and we are all looking forward to competing in similar events in the near future so watch this space!!!!
